To strengthen the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has signed separate agreements with BGMEA, BKMEA, and BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) to implement a nationwide skill development program.
Under the three-year initiative (FY2026–27 to FY2028–29), 22,815 garment workers, employees, and mid-level professionals will receive specialized training. The program includes 5-day technical training for workers and a 6-month Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) for industry professionals, funded by the Ministry of Commerce’s Training Fund.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mohammad Hasan Arif emphasized the importance of modernizing training modules, ensuring quality, and evaluating the practical impact of the program on the industry.
Mahmud Hasan Khan highlighted the need to include advanced machinery operation and compliance-related topics in the training curriculum to meet the evolving demands of the global apparel industry.
The initiative is expected to enhance workforce skills, improve productivity, and further strengthen Bangladesh’s position as a leading global apparel sourcing destination.
